Value stream mapping: an application lean in the process of accountability in a philanthropic hospital

Objective: This study aimed to map the value flow of medical records a philanthropic hospital, identifying opportunities for improvements in process. Design/methodology/approach: A qualitative research descriptive and exploratory bias was developed, which sources evidence emerged from participant observation documentary analysis. Therefore, data collection took place three months 2021, administrative sectors large process chosen be mapped analyzed surgical record. Result: The analysis patient's discharge delivery accounts typing/billing sector, where routine post desks observed current flows were through Value Stream Mapping tool (VSM), with several wastes being detected. time spent approximately 56 days, after suggested drawing up future situation, this reduced 28 days. With application tool, waste identified eliminated process, generating possibility cost reduction. Originality/value: stands out as it seeks link context stream mapping hospital space, opening space new contributing practical results.
